Here is a sample lesson demonstrating how to set learning objectives rather than teaching objectives.

Learning Objectives for Teachers of Asia Pacific Professional Development

With the aim of improving education for improving quality of life and life choices for Thai citizens, teachers participating in this course (Creative Careers for ASEAN) should have as a goal "Improve the ability to provide skills for work and productivity and for creating a sustainable living environment"

Teachers should specify their own learning objectives, but here are some examples. Note that each objective should have a measurable endpoint.

Think about how you would evaluate your performance of each of these objectives. There is room to note the learning objectives for you students below those you set for yourself.

  • Demonstrate ability to deliver lesson using storytelling .


  • Create a Lesson plan that includes experiential learning and a way to evaluate it.


  • Explain 3 techniques for improving students' problem solving skills. Give examples of each.


  • Provide at least 3 techniques to encourage students to investigate social problems. such as the job market, environmental degradation, international trade disputes, resource shortages, etc.


  • Explain how having students envision the future will help them with ethical decision making.


  • Demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of the rationale for professional standards in your field.
